She also works on new build projects employing traditional materials and techniques. The practice is based in Cambridge, England and whilst work has been undertaken overseas, it is generally concentrated locally.
Oriel studied at Cambridge University and at the Architectural Association. She has taught at the Royal College of Art and also at both Cambridge and East London Universities. Having received an AHRC studentship, she was awarded a PhD from the University of Cambridge in June 2010.

Oriel is a RIBA-accredited Conservation Architect.
